ロシアからの脅威を背景に、スウェーデンで、徴兵制度が再導入される事になりました。18才以上の男女が対象です。ドイツの徴兵制度では、平和主義的な理由で防衛演習に賛同できない場合は、地域活動（ゴミの収集、福祉施設での労働）に参加しなければならないそうです。日本には、徴兵制度はありませんが、自然災害、高齢化問題などと戦わなければならない事などを考えると、若い人達が地域の環境/福祉活動に、従事する機会があってもいいのではないかな〜と思いました。雪国の雪かき作業、自然災害後の普及活動、子ども達/高齢者の支援など、など…… 働いたあとに感謝される喜びを感じる事も大切だと思います。私も、応援団で、雪かき後に豚汁とか、食べさせてあげたいです。など、など、考えながら、ニュースで英会話の準備をするのが楽しいです^_−☆

今日は、”atheist”（無神論者）という単語がでてきて、またもや… スイッチ入りました（笑）
“英語で、Jazzを歌おう！” (Class 1 First Day). 担当: Robert先生（音楽修士/英語講師。カナダの大学で英語を教えていました。モントリオール/ビクトリアで、ジャズピアニスト/シンガーとして活躍。）
発声練習、発音練習、それぞれお持ちいただいた歌のKey, transpose（転調）の仕方、などなどについて学びました。 私自身、とても勉強になりました。英語をツールとして、何かを学ぶことは、とても楽しく、効果的です！ 今後、このような、”content-based”のクラスを増やしていきたいと思います。
Class 2は、4月9日（日）9:30-12:30 に集まります！

JETS Jazz Singing Course (April)
Do you like to sing? Do you enjoy jazz? Are you interested in singing in English? If the answer to these questions is “Yes!”, then consider studying with Robert Ahad this April. Robert is a highly-skilled and trained jazz singer with formidable skills on the piano. He has a Masters Degree in Music and has sung and played professionally for many years in Victoria and Montreal, Canada. As well, Robert has received training as a teacher of English as a Second Language and worked as a sessional lecturer of ESL at Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada for 10 years.
At JETS, Robert is prepared to offer a 4 session weekly course in Jazz Singing in which participants will learn essential vocal techniques while singing their favorite standards and learning the meanings and correct pronunciation of the song lyrics. There will be vocal exercises, group singing and discussion, and of course solo accompanied singing for each participant. And everyone will have the opportunity to prepare a song each week to be presented in a mini-concert at the end of the session. (The last day of the course will feature a longer concert open to family and friends.) Of course, it will all be in English!
Participation is limited to 5 students, so sign up quickly if you’re interested!
