昨日は、Cable TVのMystery Channelで、COLUMBO(刑事コロンボ)の連続放映！ そう思えば、高校ー大学時代、NHKで放映されていて、いつも土曜日の夜、夕食後、亡父とみていました。中間期末テストや受験の時も、さあ、勉強せねば〜と部屋にこもろうとしたら、いつも、”ゆり〜、コロンボ始まるぞ〜！　早く来ないとわけわからなくなるぞ〜！” と、父から誘惑が… と、いうわけで、何があっても見ていました。(笑)　　ヨレヨレのトレンチコートにオンボロ車…親しみやすいコロンボ刑事の、シャープな展開が大好きでした。カリフォルニアの青い空、豪邸、豪華なキャスト、庶民的な行きつけのメキシカンレストラン、いつ、見ても、新鮮です。　何度も再放送を見たのに、また、見てしまいました。　新シリーズより、父と見ていたオリジナルシリーズの方が、好きです(^^) 昨日は、予定していた事がキャンセルになり、久〜しぶりに家でゆっくり…”Couch Potato”になってしまいました(>_<)

“Quarantine (検疫、40）”
新型コロナウイルスの感染拡大が危惧されています。潜伏期間の２週間は豪華客船から下船ができない厳しい状況下、Quarantine(検疫）の語源を思い起こしました。　事態が早急に収束することを祈ります。

“英語のquarantineは、イタリア語のヴェネツィア方言quarantenaおよびquaranta giorni (40日間の意)を語源としている。これは1347年の黒死病大流行以来、疫病がオリエントから来た船より広がることに気づいたヴェネツィア共和国当局では、船内に感染者がいないことを確認するため、疫病の潜伏期間に等しい40日の間、疑わしい船をヴェネツィアやラグーサ港外に強制的に停泊させるという法律があったためである。日本でも、コレラ患者のいる船を40日間沖に留め置く「コレラ船」という言葉があり、夏の季語となっていた[1]。”

This is due to the 40-day isolation of ships and people before entering the city-state of Ragusa (modern Dubrovnik, Croatia).[11] This was practiced as a measure of disease prevention related to the Black Death.
